Dear members of the new Faculty of Medicine Council, dear colleagues, professors, assistants, administrative staff, and student representatives,
It is with a deep sense of responsibility and pleasure that I greet you as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at this first meeting of the new Faculty Council. This meeting marks an important moment, as it coincides with the start of the new academic year, which began on September 16, 2024. This date symbolizes a new phase in our efforts to strengthen and advance our esteemed Faculty, an institution with a long tradition and a leadership role in the sciences and commitment to medicine.
In this context, I would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to all those who have contributed to the development of our faculty in the past years. The dedication of the academic staff, the engagement of the students, and the support of our partners have created a strong foundation on which we will build our vision for the future.
We also value and thank all past managements of the Faculty of Medicine for their significant achievements. Their contribution has been essential to the consolidation of this Faculty. We are fully aware of the challenges ahead, and this academic year brings new tasks and responsibilities that require maximum dedication to advancing the quality of teaching and scientific research.
As the new management, our goal is the continuous improvement of academic standards and the preparation of competent professionals who will contribute to serving society. On this journey, together with the Faculty Council and the academic community, we will work to move our faculty forward, preserving traditional values while embracing innovation.
At the start of this four-year mandate, we are aware of the challenges and responsibilities that lie ahead. Following a clear and thoughtful strategy is our main task. This strategy will focus on four key areas:
•    Continuous improvement of the quality of teaching and learning.
•    Advancement of research capacities and enhancement of the academic staff's skills.
•    Development and improvement of infrastructure for teaching and scientific research.
•    Expansion of international collaborations and integration of the faculty into international university and scientific networks.
Esteemed colleagues, allow me to emphasize the importance of our commitment and shared goals that have brought us to this point. The values we have built together are the foundation upon which we will build the future of our Faculty. Without your dedication and engagement, our achievements would not have been possible. Together, we will continue to build a bright future for the Faculty of Medicine, fulfilling our duties to society.
During this mandate, we will face challenges and new tasks, but our commitment will be a mission, not a privilege. In this mandate, our commitment will be a shared mission, characterized by justice, quality, transparency, teamwork, and respect for meritocracy and the law. These attributes are the key to our future success.
Thank you, and I wish everyone success in the new academic year!
