Professor of the Pharmacy Branch of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. ass. Valdet Uka, had a successful application to the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships 2021 call. It is worth noting that the MSCA is the most prestigious opportunity for post-doctoral research offered by the European Union within the platform Horizon Europe. In addition, the competition for MSCA projects is carried out at a global level, without specific quotas for certain regions, and depending on the year there is a 10-15% acceptance rate. Dr. Uka, will conduct his research at the Dresden University of Technology (Technische Universität Dresden - TUD) under the supervision of Prof. Tobias A. M. Gulder. Prof. Gulder is among the respected names in the field of natural product research and at the same time he serves as editor-in-chief of one of the best journals in the field Natural Product Reports. During this research stay Dr. Uka, will expand his knowledge in the latest biomolecular technologies to explore the potential of natural resources such as endophytic fungi in the production of bioactive compounds with medical application. Moreover, in the broadest sense, all the knowledge, experience and international networks gained during his research stay at TUD will help Dr. Uka to further contribute to the strengthening of the educational and research capacities of the University of Prishtina. Also, through his example, we encourage students and academic staff of the University of Prishtina to take advantage of these unique opportunities for doctoral and post-doctoral studies that are offered within the MSCA framework and in general by the Horizon Europe platform.
